It is show-and-tell day in Mrs. Krupp's class, and eight-year-old Billy has a lot to share. The topic of today's project: "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Billy could be the greatest chef that you've ever seen create kumquats and shrimp-flavored lollipops, a snail-trainer whose snails ride bicycles, a giraffe-milker who uses a tall ladder instead of a chair in order to make giraffe cheese, a gorilla masseuse, a professional pickle-inspector, a friendly mortician, a sidewalk side waver, or a part-time assistant tarantula shaver.
Billy's great-grandfather Bob is 103 years old. And even he doesn't know what he wants to be yet.
When I Grow Up by Al Yankovic, 2011
The illustrations are outrageous, detailed and hilarious. They remind me of Steven Kellogg's work.
A family member introduced me to Weird Al when I was young, and his comedy and songs are quite unique. This book did not disappoint.
