The New York State Department of Labor and the New York City Police Department will present On-Site Information/Reruitment for Police Communications Technicians (911 Operators).
This is an On-Site Information/Recruitment Session. At these sessions, persons interested in the position of Police Communications Technician (911 Operator) can speak with an NYPD Rep, complete an application, and submit a resume.

Job SummaryAssigned to NYPD’s Communications Section as 911emergency call taker. Serve as radio dispatcher of police resources and perform all other clerical and administrative duties related to the provision of emergency service. PCT’s are required to work shifts, including evenings or night tours, and/or Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. There is per-shift pay, as well as night shift pay differential.
Salary$33,162 and can increase to $44,899.
Qualifications- Four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent – One year full time, paid experience performing clerical duties; or public contact work requiring obtaining information; or 30 college credits; or two years active military duty with honorable discharge
- Entrance Examination; Background Investigation; Medical and Psychological requirements; Drug Screening; Ability to understand and be understood in English
- Fees for exam and fingerprint screening
- Entry into higher level positions, other than through promotional exams, depends on the applicant’s prior training, education and experience, and the job requirements for the position
- Must be a resident of NYC within 90 days of appointment
- Must pass medical, psychological and drug screening requirements to be appointed
